Care for your carer – Respite

Home Nursing Group recognises the important role that carers play in supporting people to lead independent and safe lives at home.

Respite provides support to both the carer and their loved one. Home Nursing Group provides various respite services when needed and the carer can choose whether or not to be in the home during the respite period.

Looking after someone you love can be exhausting.

Our customised and flexible in-home respite services provide much-needed breaks, reassurance and an enhanced quality of life.

Home Nursing Group provides various respite care services for a few hours, a few days or even longer, depending on your needs.

Respite Care may be available under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme, a Home Care Package, or for self-funded clients.

Fees and charges vary dependant on a range of factors including, your aged care eligibility, the type of service and the government funding available to you. Home Nursing Group fees are increased annually in line with the Government subsidy increase. Please call us for detailed information on our pricing or visit the Healthcare Australia website.

Home Nursing Group respite services include:

Short-term care

Caring for someone can be an intense and emotional responsibility. Our short-term respite services are the perfect opportunity for carers to rest, refresh themselves, and attend to their own needs.

Overnight or weekend respite

It is not always possible for informal carers to be there 24/7, especially when the carer is a family member. Home Nursing Group offers support and flexibility to be there when you need us, offering overnight, weekend and occasional care in the comfort of your home.

Long-term care

We can provide respite care for longer periods of time, which is ideal for carers who need to go to hospital or would like to go on a holiday. A regularly scheduled respite plan can also allow carers to return to the workforce and attend to other duties, knowing that their loved one is being cared for by an experienced and reliable team.

Why is respite care important?

Caring for a family member or friend can be rewarding but it also has its challenges. It is very demanding on many levels — physically, mentally and emotionally.

Carers often neglect their own well-being when they are focusing on their loved one’s needs. Respite care helps to lighten the load, allowing carers to focus on other responsibilities, like personal household tasks, paid employment, study, or to just enjoy general free-time, while they rest and recharge.

With the support of Home Nursing Group’s fully trained staff, your carer may be able to continue to care for you for longer.

“I am very happy with my services and my carers professional attitude towards my care”,

Mr Bourke, aged 76, Port Macquarie.
