What Funding Is Available?

What funding is available?

Home Nursing Group offers three main funding options for you:

Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)

The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) provides low-level support services for older people to stay at home and be more independent in the community. CHSP services are provided to people with low to moderate Home Care needs under a variety of different services such as Personal Care, Domestic Assistance, Respite Care and Social Support.

Some CHSP services are also available on a higher-intensity basis for a short period (for example, to help you get back on your feet after a stay in hospital). To be eligible for CHSP, the Australian Government requires that you undertake a free assessment by the Regional Assessment Service (RAS). The MyAgedCare portal is the access point, and we can help you with all the details. CHSP services are subsidised by the Australian Government.

In addition, it is Government policy that you contribute a modest amount towards the cost of your care. For specific prices, please call the friendly Home Nursing Group Intake Team. They can help with all the details.

Home Care Packages (HCP)

Home Care Packages are also subsidised by the Australian Government and are available for people over 65 (over 55 for people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities), who need higher-level support to live at home. The Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) conduct assessments for HCPs and determine the appropriate level. We can assist you with a referral to an ACAT in your area.

Once you are approved and allocated a package, you are ready to choose your individual services. Home Nursing Group can walk you through a range of care options and help you set goals and develop a care plan designed for you and your needs.

The Australian Government provides a daily subsidy per package to supply and coordinate care services. In addition, you will be asked to contribute towards the cost of your care. The amount of your contribution is determined by Centrelink in view of your financial status.

Please contact us to discuss your interest in a Home Care Package. We will be pleased to provide further details and information.

Privately funded clients

For some people, private services as a self-funded client may be preferable — for example, while you wait to receive a Home Care Package or if you require services on top of the Commonwealth Home Support Programme.

For specific prices, please call the friendly Home Nursing Group Intake Team on 1300 698 693. They can help with all the details.

Alternatively you can head to the My Aged Care (MAC) website where you will follow the prompts to locate your nearest Home Nursing Group office. We are located in Armidale, Tamworth, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie and Taree.

Here you will be able to download a PDF document with Home Nursing Group prices, or call us directly where one of our trained staff can assist you through the process and answer your questions.

Is Home Nursing Group an approved provider?

Who can I talk to about finding out if I am eligible for funding?

Call us on 1300 698 693 for a free no-obligation consultation to explore your funding options.

Alternatively, you can head to the My Aged Care (MAC) website to register www.myagedcare.gov.au

Can I combine funding packages and private services?

Yes, this is a great way to purchase extra support on either a one-off or an ongoing basis.

Australian Government-funded Home Care programmes require modest consumer co-payments. Home Nursing Group follows Government on all co-payment amounts.

Will I need to contribute to my care costs?

It is Australian Government policy that Home Care customers pay a co-payment, either per hour or per day (depending on your care type and the required Centrelink income assessment).

The Australian Government subsidises Home Care services, and we will work with you to ensure that you can access the support you need, irrespective of any financial hardship or ability to pay.

There are annual lifetime caps on co-payments to ensure no-one is ever disadvantaged. Our helpful Intake Team can explain all the details.

How are my payments managed?

You will receive regular, detailed invoices and statements about your funding package.

We offer the convenience of direct debit facilities, as well EFT.

Home Nursing Group takes care of all the necessary administration duties and claiming for any subsidies related to your care from the Government. Full details will be on your Home Care Package Statement.

How will I know about my funding?

Depending on the Home Care programme, you will either receive regular, detailed invoices and statements (which can be settled via the convenience of direct debit), or HCP budget statements.

Home Nursing Group Staff

What training and qualifications do Home Nursing Group Services staff have?

All field staff delivering personal care have a Certificate III in Individual Support (or equivalent) as a minimum. Many also have Certificate IV qualifications in ageing support or specialist fields such as dementia care. Our Enrolled and Registered Nurses and Allied Health practitioners all hold the requisite qualifications and registrations.

All staff undertake extensive screening prior to commencing with Home Nursing Group, including mandatory police checks. All Home Nursing Group staff also hold current first aid and CPR qualifications and many have specific, advanced training in various clinical areas.

We also employ dedicated Care & Support Coordinators who oversee support plans and service agreements. This is particularly important when care plans are complex and involve a range of health professionals, such as Home Care Packages.
